Ka Ching Chan has a keen interest in the design and implementation of large scale backend infrastructure and innovative ICT solutions for service providers and financial institutions. Prior to his return to lecturing at La Trobe University in 2010, he has established and managed a high-tech business at the Australian Technology Park between 1997 and 2008, which has grown from being an incubator company to a public unlisted company.
In his early academic career, from 1991 to 2004, Ka Ching was a tenured Senior Lecturer in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales, and a visiting Assistant Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has published widely in the areas of CAD/CAM, robotics, control systems, and artificial intelligence, and had secured substantial research funding from the ARC and CSIRO between 1989 and 1998. Ka Ching’s biography has been featured in Marquis Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Top 2000 Scientists in the World (2000).
Ka Ching received his BASc in Engineering Science (1987) and MASc in Mechanical Engineering (1989) from the University of Toronto, and his PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from UNSW (1995).
