Yok-Yen serves as a Lecturer of Information Technology at JCU, Singapore. She received her BEng degree (Class 1 hons) in computer engineering from The University of Newcastle, Australia before completing her PhD in Computer Engineering at Nanyang Technological University. Prior to joining JCU, she gained experience in teaching computer subjects and supervision of final year students’ research. She has worked in the area of neural networks and features analysis. She has carried out active research work in the area of self-organizing maps and features ranking to analyse imbalanced medical data, facial expression and road sign images. One of her current research activities is concerned with analyzing facial expressions to determine human emotions with scarce data.
